Wednesday - Martinu's First Symphony

Jakub Hrusa conducts the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Martinu's First Symphony. Introduced by Penny Gore.

Highlights today include a recording of Martinu鈥檚 First Symphony, composed in the Caribbean and United States during World War 2. Czech conductor, and incoming Music Director at the Royal Opera House Jakub Hrusa takes charge of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in this recording from German radio. Also today, French horn player Martin Owen, the 蜜芽传媒 Philharmonic and conductor John Wilson turn their attention to the music of Carl Maria von Weber. Meanwhile, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra look to the music of the baroque era, and Barbara Hannigan sings and conducts the music of Maurice Delage.
