Goals from Lucy Bronze and Lauren Hemp in September’s reverse fixture got England off to a winning start in the competition as they survived a nervy second half at the Stadium of Light after Kirsty Hanson halved the deficit on the stroke of half time.
England went into their concluding double header against the Netherlands and Scotland, needing to win both games to give themselves a chance of winning the group and qualifying for the semi-finals. Scotland were vying for a first win going into their last two fixtures but have been competitive against every side they’ve faced in the group.
