INTERVAL: Petroc & Georgia are joined live in the Radio 3 box by comedian Alex Horne, creator of BAFTA award-winning TV series Taskmaster and bandleader of comedic band The Horne Section, alongside tonight鈥檚 star pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason and composer Ben Nobuto whose brand new work Hallelujah Sim. receives its world premiere in just a few minutes time.

Beethoven railed against fate in his Symphony No. 5, capturing ideals of fortitude, defiance and bravery in an instant. In her First Night debut, conductor Elim Chan places Beethoven鈥檚 compelling score at the heart of a celebration that includes fireworks, jubilation and romance. The last comes with Clara Schumann鈥檚 tender and virtuosic Piano Concerto 鈥� performed by a pianist who has championed it tirelessly: Isata Kanneh-Mason, the eldest of the remarkable musical Kanneh-Mason siblings.
