Symphonic Schubert and the ѿý Singers at 100

Schubert’s 7th Symphony orchestrated by Felix Weingartner and the ѿý Singers, serious and the profane, plus the piano old and new from Alexandre Tharaud and Angela Hewitt.

Today's featured Schubert symphony is the 7th in a version orchestrated by Felix Weingartner and recorded recently in Estonia. The ѿý Singers perform music demonstrating both their serious and their lighter side, and there's music for pianoforte and fortepiano from Alexandre Tharaud and from Angela Hewitt. Also in today’s programme, Tom McKinney introduces the fifth of the ten quarter finalists in this year's ѿý Young Musician competition.
