Agus bidh fìor sà r-bhidhean ann leithid na deanntaig, cho luma-là n beòthaman C agus a nì tì a tha blasta, falain.
Mary Ann Kennedy and Lucy Cooke - aka the Wild Cooke - hunt for ‘good and evil’ plants, those with health benefit, and the ones that will definitely kill you. Lucy teaches us how to identify hemlock water dropwort and shares its Sardinian history as a means of punishment by execution.
But there are plenty of good things too, including sweet cicely, which they use instead of refined sugar in a crumble made with delicious rhubarb from Mary Ann’s neighbours in Ardgour. They also explore plants that have a bad reputation but are still beneficial in some way, such as ragwort. This is poisonous to livestock but a vital favourite of bees. There are some real superfoods to be had, including the humble nettle, which is full of vitamin C and the basis of a tasty, healthy tea.
