Sibelius's Kullervo from Switzerland
Mark Forrest showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including Sibelius's Kullervo from Switzerland.
Mark Forrest showcases the best performances by ѿý orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
Today on Classical Live, our centrepiece is Sibelius's Kullervo, Op 7, performed by the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and Paavo Järvi, which Sibelius composed in response to a collection of epic Finnish poetry, the Kalevala.
Mark also has a spotlight on piano trios. Today, we hear violinist Esther Hoppe, cellist Christian Poltéra and pianist Ronald Brautigam perform Robert Schumann's highly celebrated Piano Trio No 1 in D minor, Op 63.
