Today on Classical Live, our centrepiece is Sibelius's Kullervo, Op 7, performed by the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and Paavo Järvi, which Sibelius composed in response to a collection of epic Finnish poetry, the Kalevala.

Mark also has a spotlight on piano trios. Today, we hear violinist Esther Hoppe, cellist Christian Poltéra and pianist Ronald Brautigam perform Robert Schumann's highly celebrated Piano Trio No 1 in D minor, Op 63.
