NIJI’s Flowers
This week, soulful London pianist NIJI celebrates some of the living legends he admires.
‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
This week Soweto welcomes rising pianist NIJI as his guest from Monday to Thursday, for Flowers. Hailing from East London, NIJI now splits his time between London and New York, where he is Madison Square Garden’s resident organist. Alongside working with artists as varied as Harry Styles, Stormzy, and Gregory Porter, NIJI is an innovative solo artist. He released his latest album “Oríkì” earlier this year via Kartel Music Group.
Starting his Flowers week in style, NIJI chooses one of jazz’s enduring trailblazers.
Also in the programme, new music from Lily Carassik, Candice Hoyes, and Steven Bamidele.
