Michael Pedersen, Tongue Twister

Edinburgh Makar, poet Michael Pedersen talks about his debut novel, Muckle Flugga, inspired by the lighthouse of the same name, located off the tip of Unst, Shetland.

Len hears about the debut novel from poet and Edinburgh Makar Michael Pedersen, the story of a lighthouse keeper and his son. It’s partly inspired by the Muckle Flugga lighthouse and its location on the northern tip of Unst, Shetland, and it's beautifully rendered in Michael’s characteristic rich prose.

Also joining Len for today’s show is another lover of words: performance artist Greg Sinclair, whose show for older children, Tongue Twister, is on tour for the next few weeks, inculding at Imaginate, Edinburgh International Children's Festival. It’s described as ‘one man’s attempt to say tongue twisters in as many different languages as possible. Whilst also trying to dance. And make music. And do all the costume changes without leaving the stage.’
