Author James Robertson has written the introduction to a reissue of “From Scenes Like These” a lost 20th century Scottish cult classic novel by Gordon M Williams. It was shortlisted for the very first Booker Prize, alongside work by Muriel Spark and Iris Murdoch. James explains why this book should be returned to its rightful place in Scottish literature.

And Scottish Opera’s programme of pop-up opera is going far and wide to communities and schools across Scotland this summer. They’re performing in some beautiful canal-side locations with their short, accessible show, which includes opera for children. Soprano Jessica Leary and storyteller Allan Dunn tells us more.
