Remembering Brian WIlson
Bob revisits his 1976 'Old Grey Whistle Test' interview with Beach Boy Brian Wilson, who died this week.
Bob pays tribute to Beach Boy Brian Wilson, who died this week.
In 1976, Bob was granted an incredible opportunity to speak to Brian for 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'. At the time, Brian had been away from public life for several years after his widely publicised mental health issues and drug use in the latter years of the 1960s. By the early 70s, he'd become a recluse, but in 1976 he re-emerged after a family intervention and began working once again with the Beach Boys. Brian hadn't spoken to the press for a long time, but Bob secured the interview with Brian in California and managed to gain a fascinating insight into the mind of one of the most celebrated pop music minds of the 20th century. Bob will remember Brian on the show, with excerpts from the interview and memories of meeting Brian on that day.
