The theme of this year's Liverpool Biennial is 鈥榖edrock鈥�. The inspiration is the sandstone which spans the city region and is found in its distinctive architecture. 'Bedrock' is also a metaphor for the social foundations of Liverpool and the people, places and values that ground the city. From the cornucopia of work by 30 artists from all over the world, shown in galleries and venues all over the city, the art critic Laura Robertson chooses three highlights.
