As part of 'Names Will Be Made', a ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Campaign Celebrating the Women’s Summer of Sport, Cerys talks about the Women's Rugby World Cup with Gill Whitehead and about women in Formula 1 with Kate Beaven and David Coulthard.
Gill Whitehead is the independent Chair of the Rugby World Cup 2025 Board. She sees the 2025 tournament, hosted by England, as a transformative opportunity to inspire more girls and women to engage with rugby, building on the momentum of recent successes in women’s sport. Aside from her involvement in rugby, Gill Whitehead is a British executive with extensive experience in technology, media, regulation, and sports governance.
Kate Beavan is a board member and Strategic advisor for the not for profit project ‘More Than Equal’ – a project to find the first female Formula 1 Champion. She is the former Director of Hospitality and Experiences for Formula 1. More than Equal drivers will experience a different support environment than currently exists for talented girls in motorsport, with the barriers that have stopped them from reaching F1 for 50 years removed. Since 1950 only five female drivers have competed in qualifying in a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Only two have made it to race day.
David Coulthard works with Kate on 'More Than Equal'. He is a British former racing driver and broadcaster from Scotland who competed in Formula One from 1994 to 2008. He was was runner-up in the Formula One championship in 2001, and won 13 Grands Prix across 15 seasons.
