The Final: The Masterclass

Danessa Myricks flies in to judge the final. The last three MUAs compete in a Masterclass before industry heavyweights. Who will be crowned winner of this year’s Glow Up competition?

Danessa Myricks flies in to judge the final. Whoever impresses her the most in the last Creative Brief will win one-on-one time, gaining valuable tips and tricks to give them an edge when presenting their final Industry Assignment of the series, a Masterclass.

In their final Creative Brief, the MUAs must create looks inspired by the feel-good hormone dopamine. One MUA leans into their new-found confidence and the first time they discovered the transformative power of make-up, recreating a look from when they were 17. Another creates a look using linework, their favourite technique, to produce a bold, colourful look, drawing inspiration from nature. The last MUA is feeling the pressure of the final and decides to take their biggest risk yet, straying from their comfort zone and attempting new skill sets and techniques.

For their final assignment, the MUAs face the ultimate test - presenting a Masterclass, hosted by Sephora, to a room full of make-up industry heavyweights, including British beauty ambassador and brand founder Ruby Hammer MBE, Academy Award- and Bafta Award-winning film make-up and hair designer Nadia Stacey, make-up artists Andrew Gallimore, Lan Nguyen-Grealis, Jumoke Ajayi and Joy Adenuga, as well as journalist Ateh Jewel and actor, comedian and writer Donna Preston.

Each MUA must demo a technique which speaks to their personal style and brand, but with such high stakes, the pressure is on to impress not only some of the top names in the industry but also their friends and family who are cheering them on in the audience.

With the MUAs now having done all they can, the judges look back at the make-up looks created by the finalists over the past eight weeks of the competition, before deciding who deserves to be crowned winner.
