Episode 1
Zara meets Isobel, a young mum stalked by an ex-partner, and Jen, whose stalker, a stranger, is in prison for the crime but has just been given a release date.
Zara McDermott returns with one of her most emotionally charged and urgent series to date, shining a light on the devastating impact stalking has on victims and asking why more can't be done to stop it.
Told entirely in the present tense, this gripping two-part series follows the unfolding experiences of four courageous women as they live through the terrifying reality of being stalked. With unique access to the women, their families, and law enforcement, it is a raw, unfiltered look at what stalking really means - and what it takes to survive it. It follows the lives of several young women in real time as they try to navigate daily life under the shadow of fear. From Jen, whose stalker, a stranger, was jailed only to call her hours after release, to Laura, who has endured years of relentless torment from an ex-partner who just won’t let go, and Liv, whose life has been ripped apart by a faceless cyberstalker who has been harassing her for over six years.
Across the series, Zara offers a compassionate, curious presence. She meets victims and police officers, asking why stalking cases so often fall through the cracks of the justice system and what can be done to improve support and protection for those being targeted. It gives the women at the centre of these harrowing experiences a voice - and viewers a view of how stalking affects those involved. It addresses the way stalking is investigated, prosecuted, and prevented.
Filmed over ten months and set against the backdrop of growing calls for tougher laws and better victim support, this series is thought-provoking, emotionally resonant and essential viewing for a generation coming of age in an always-connected, hyper-visible world.
With a tone that is intimate, urgent and honest, To Catch a Stalker is a powerful reminder that stalking is happening in many forms, every day, to millions of people across the UK.
