One Leg One Eye’s Listening Chair

Elizabeth Alker invites One Leg One Eye - aka Ian Lynch from Lankum - to the Unclassified Listening Chair to select a track that transports him elsewhere.

Ian Lynch is perhaps best known as one of the founding members of deadly Dublin band Lankum, but the freedom his solo project One Leg One Eye offers him has led to his “happiest experience recording music”. Setting up his shruti box and uilleann pipes in abandoned spaces across his home city, he creates dark, forbidding drone sounds that lead us into sometimes transcendent, sometimes terrifying musical places. For his Listening Chair, Ian chooses the song that gifted his other band its name - John Reilly Jr.’s folk ballad ‘False Lankum’.

Elsewhere in the show, Elizabeth offers up a vibrant selection of fresh music from genre-defying artists who take us on a journey through landscapes of ambient and experimental sounds.
