Author James Rebanks, Ten Scottish Masters exhibition
Best-selling author James Rebanks discusses his new book, The Place of Tides, the story of Anna, an old woman on a remote island in Norway who is protecting wild eider ducks.
Author James Rebanks discusses his new book, The Place of Tides. It was written following his bestseller The Shepherd’s Life, and the death of his father – a time when he was angry and troubled about his own relationships. He found a light to follow in the strangest of places – Anna, an old woman on a remote island in Norway who is protecting wild eider ducks as they come inland to nest. He hoped to learn from her toughness and independence – but as her story unfolded he gained an unexpected redemption.
Ten pioneering modern Scottish artists are the subject of a new exhibition at The McManus gallery in Dundee, called Border Crossings: Ten Modern Scottish Masters. Their bold visions and international acclaim have placed them among the greats of global art history. These artists are Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Robert Colquhoun, William Crozier, Alan Davie, William Gear, William Johnstone, Robert MacBryde, Eduardo Paolozzi, William Scott and William Turnbull. All ten made a unique contribution to the development of modern art worldwide. Len is joined by Anna Robertson, Fine and Applied Art Manager at The McManus.
