In this archive inspired series of Two Minute Masterpiece, filmmakers Niamh Kelly and Liam McDonnell reflect on female beauty standards and gender stereotypes in their folk horror film Úlla Mhacha . Inspired by an archive clip ‘Girl of the Year’ in which competitors promote Armagh apples by handing them out to men in the grounds of Belfast City Hall. In this updated version a group of women again hand out apples to men but this time the power and the camera’s gaze is subverted with a surprising twist.
