Sara Mohr-Pietsch navigates a path to Aaron Copland's ballet Rodeo. It follows the story of a cowgirl finding her place in the American west, and Copland worked traditional folk melodies into his score. We'll hear some of the original tunes that Copland heard, plus other pieces based on folk music, as well as music inspired by the night from Chopin, Bizet and Dizzy Gillespie. At the end, we hear Copland's symphonic arrangement of his score, in the Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo.
