Isata Kanneh-Mason plays Beethoven in Belfast
Mark Forrest showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason joining the Ulster Orchestra for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
Mark Forrest showcases the best performances by ѿý orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
Throughout this week Classical Live is spending time in Belfast’s Ulster Hall, with live concert recordings made specially for us there by the Ulster Orchestra. Today, we hear from their 2024-25 season opening concert, which featured pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason as the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. There’s also symphonic Bruckner from later in the season – his Symphony No. 1 in the Linz version.
And our focus on Dvorak’s chamber music continues with former ѿý Radio 3 New Generation Artists the Armida Quartet performing the String Quartet No. 14 at last year’s Rheingau Music Festival.
Plus there’s a chance to hear the latest from ѿý Radio 3’s 25 for 25: Sounds of the Century – a series of brand new commissions celebrating and commemorating some of the biggest events of the 21st century so far. Today, Kristina Arakelyan marks 2024, the ‘year of the Aurora’.
