Pensions and 200 years of the railways
Jeremy discusses whether the pension age should go up, 200 years of the railways, our political surgery returns, and whether naked bike rides should be banned.
Jeremy discusses whether the pension age should go up again following news that future pensioners will be worse off financially, our political surgery returns with Adam Fleming and Chris Mason taking questions on the water sector review, small boat gangs and more, and we hear from a woman who says naked bike rides should be banned. And ahead of 21st Century Folk on Radio 2 - a celebration of folk and people's stories marking 200 years of the modern railway - Jeremy talks today to Michael Portillo about his new TV programme, 200 Years of the Railways, and his recent train travels.
The award-winning and pioneering 21st Century Folk series returns to Radio 2 this month, with a week-long celebration of music and stories on the Jeremy Vine Show. With Railway 200 as the theme – marking two centuries of the modern railway - we hear from five people who have an incredible tale to tell about their connection to trains and the rail network. We then set their stories to music as folk artists are inspired to write original songs based on what they’ve heard.
