Dead Grateful and Artist Rooms exhibitions, featuring the works of Smug, Louise Bourgeois, Robert Mapplethorpe and more

Len Pennie speaks with artist Smug and curator Lucy Askew about two newly opened exhibitions in Scotland, one of which includes work by Louise Bourgeois and Robert Mapplethorpe.

Len Pennie is joined by Australian-born, Glasgow-based artist Smug – otherwise known as Sam Bates. Known for his large-scale, photorealistic murals, he tells Len about creating and curating work on a smaller scale for his newly opened first solo show in Scotland, Dead Grateful.

Lucy Askew, chief curator of modern and contemporary art at the National Galleries of Scotland, speaks with Len about the new Artist Rooms displays at the Modern One gallery in Edinburgh from some of the biggest names in modern and contemporary art, including Louise Bourgeois and Robert Mapplethorpe.
