Hidden Dangers

Episode 1 of 12

An 80-year-old is stuck on Yr Wyddfa. The police helicopter looks for a tourist lost in the dark. And the coastguard races to save a local before the tide sweeps her away.

An 80-year-old woman finds herself in extreme danger after climbing Wales’s highest mountain, Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon. After taking the wrong path in a storm, she gets stuck 100m down a cliff face on the edge of a sheer drop - just 10ft from death. Meanwhile, her panic-stricken husband waits for word at base. Can the busiest mountain rescue team in the UK find her in the mist before it’s too late?

After heading out to take snaps of the sunset, a foreign visitor is lost and alone somewhere on a pitch-black mountainside in southern Eryri. Luckily, Mountain Rescue has the police’s ‘eye in the sky’ to help. Their helicopter scans the dark terrain using thermal imaging to pinpoint the tiny figure, so they can guide the rescue team to her.

And when a local woman falls on rocks on the Menai Straits, shattering her knee, she knows only too well that without help, she could be swept away by one of the fastest tides in the world. Can the coastguard and lifeboat teams come to her rescue before it’s too late?
