Beirut-born singer, songwriter and producer Yasmine Hamdan selects an hour of music focusing on the rise of Arab pop music in the 1970s and 1980s.

There will be synthesizers, drum machines and glossy production, a fusion of traditional styles such as chaabi and pop-folk and the beginnings of Arab disco. This is the soundtrack to Yasmin's and childhood and teenage years, growing up across Abu Dhabi, Greece, and Kuwait during and after the Lebanese civil war. These are the songs that poured out of taxis, cassette shops, and family homes across the region.

Yasmin's new album I Remember I Forget is out in September.
