“That song reminds me of an ice cream in Battisti’s”
Jimmy Two Combs remembers a song and an ice cream at Battisti’s in Derry.
“Can I have a request please?” says Jimmy Two Combs. “Del Shannon, Runaway. That's to remind me of an ice cream with my mother in Battisti’s in Derry.”
“I remember that café,” Sean says. “When you went in you had the stalls, the seats on the left, and on the right, the counter, and in the middle a big jukebox. Upstairs was much sought after. You could see the activity on Ferryquay street. It was great to get a seat at the window. But alas, I was too young and I didn’t have any money.”
With music from Sam Cooke, Neil Diamond, Dean Martin, and more (including Del Shannon).
