All in it Together
A young couple looking for a hidden hotspot are stranded in the dark; mountain rescue go old-school to find an injured walker; an American visitor bites off more than he can chew.
Documentary series following the dedicated rescue teams based in the stunning but extreme landscape of Eryri, North Wales. Technology can play an important part in ensuring people are prepared for adventure in Eryri’s mountains. But it can also encourage explorers to seek out ‘secret’ hotspots - which might be off-the-beaten-track for a very good reason. In this episode, when a young couple go in search of a secret bathing pool, they find themselves trapped on the edge of a steep drop in the pitch black, just as a rainstorm is setting in. With worried parents on the phone, the Mountain Rescue team set off to find them, including one of the team’s youngest recruits. Can they reach them before the situation becomes critical?
Next, for Eryri’s rescue teams, technology can be a huge bonus, with apps that can help them pinpoint a casualty’s location - but only when that technology works. A French-Canadian walker is lying injured in a remote spot. The phone-finder app doesn’t work on foreign mobiles, information is limited and it’s a huge area to search. So, it’s down to old-fashioned legwork to track her down. ¿And sometimes the insta-perfect image doesn’t show the whole portrait of what it takes to get to that location and that can catch out newcomers. An American visitor and first time mountain climber decides to tackle Tryfan. It’s one of Eryri’s most challenging and hazardous peaks and known as ‘the little mountain that bites back’. When he takes a wrong turn, he soon realises he’s bitten off more than he can chew.
