Gilles joins the musical dots playing new music from across the world of Latin, jazz and electronica and celebrates the legacies of salsa pioneer Eddie Palmieri and Lebanese trailblazing composer and political commentator Ziad Rahbani, with contributions from singer Sandy Chamoun and multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane.

Eddie Palmieri was a force in salsa and Latin jazz. He grew up in the Bronx, and was influenced by Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner, and his older brother, Charlie Palmieri, a renowned pianist. He formed La Perfecta in 1961, a band featuring trombones instead of trumpets, pioneering the "trombanga" sound, inspiring countless artists with a new sound.

Ziad Rahbani, who was the son of iconic singer Fairuz and composer Assi Rahbani, pioneered a unique musical style blending jazz, funk, Arabic rhythms, and became known for his provocative theatrical works that critiqued Lebanese society, especially during the civil war. His legacy lives on as a powerful cultural voice for the marginalised and a fearless critic of injustice.
