Amol Rajan sits down with Kemi Badenoch to discover more about the woman seeking to become Britain’s next prime minister.

Born in the UK but raised in Nigeria, Badenoch reveals her unexpected route to becoming leader of the Conservatives. She tells how her middle-class upbringing was shattered by an oil price crash and political instability in the African nation. And she explains what shaped her and her ideals, from a childhood that saw her fetch water from a borehole and cut grass with a machete to her experiences of education in the UK and working in McDonald's.

In this wide-ranging and candid interview, Badenoch reveals what it meant to her late father to see her become an MP and reflects on the accusations that she is too abrasive. The programme also sees Amol probe her on the state of Britain, the future of the Conservative Party and her role as leader.
