Mark Nelson and his star-studded team return to unlock the best of the Edinburgh Festival, with Brian Cox, Miriam Margolyes, a 90s summer and plenty of surprises from across Edinburgh.
Unlock the best of the Edinburgh Festival 2025 with award-winning comedian Mark Nelson. Mark and his star-studded team of reporters have been scouring the brochures, posters and venues for the best performers, personalities and shows from the world-famous festival in Scotland's capital.
In this episode, Mark meets Scottish acting legend Brian Cox, who returns to the capital as the star of the festival's centrepiece, Make it Happen, in which he appears as a ghost who changes the course of the banking system around the world. He also talks about his various roles, from Succession to Bob Servant, and about his love for Edinburgh in August.
Miriam Margolyes - star of Harry Potter, Doctor Who and Romeo and Juliet - returns to the Fringe with more highlights from her career, and this week she is playing the agony aunt, handing out ‘colourful’ festival advice to locals, tourists and performers.
Comedian Rosco McClelland heads out to find the best of the Fringe that might have passed you by. This week, he’s determined to have a day packed with shows and all the flavours of the festival on a strict budget. Edinburgh can be pricey, so can he entertain himself for the day without breaking the bank?
There are the best one-liner jokes from around the world and plenty of surprises from an international cast of performers ready to make the crowds laugh, cry, sing and dance.
