Trevor Nelson presents the Soul Revolution Prom from London’s Royal Albert Hall with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra and conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, with guest soloists Beverley Knight, Jacob Lusk, Reginald Mobley, Tony Momrelle, James Emmanuel, Annahstasia and the LJ Singers.
The programme reflects the some of the most inspirational and groundbreaking music to emerge during the US Civil Rights era. From the 1950’s, through the Vietnam war years of the 1960’s and into the 1970’s, black artists were at the forefront of reflecting the groundbreaking social changes that were transforming America.
Featuring timeless classics made famous by artists including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Curtis Mayfield in a celebration of the music that gave a voice to disenfranchised people, fostered a sense of community – and jumped with an infectious groove.
