Bizet and Strauss from the Edinburgh International Festival

Violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky brings the virtuoso string players of his NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra to the 2025 Edinburgh International Festival.
As part of the festival鈥檚 celebration of Polish culture the orchestra showcase the Concerto for String Orchestra by the 鈥榝irst lady of Polish music鈥�, Gra偶yna Bacewicz; Richard Strauss鈥� intense and brooding 'Metamorphosen'; and film composer Wojciech Kilar鈥檚 mountain-scape inspired 'Orawa'.
And they are joined by a quintet of Scottish percussionists for an idiosyncratically technicolour adaptation of Bizet鈥檚 music from Carmen by Rodion Shchedrin.
