This was a period of increasing disharmony with his current partner, Lorenz Hart, who was becoming consumed by alcoholism. Rodgers set his sights on lyricist, Oscar Hammerstein II, and Oklahoma becomes the first of many 'Rodgers and Hammerstein' hit shows.
