Harvest on the Farm

Claire McCollum helps bring in the harvest on a farm in Devon, where faith and farming go back five generations, and introduces favourite harvest hymns.

Claire McCollum visits a farm in Devon, where faith and farming go back five generations, and helps bring in the harvest.

Claire joins the Pinhey family at one of the busiest times of the agricultural year and discovers how faith, farming and family life go hand in hand. The family share their firm belief that working the land is a partnership between them and God. They also explain how farming requires them to rely on their faith from day to day. Claire finds out how disaster almost brought five generations of farming here to an end, before divine inspiration helped turn things around.

In Rutland, we visit a Christian residential community for people with learning disabilities, where growing and harvesting their own produce helps them to flourish.

And we have classic hymns and modern praise to give thanks for the harvest.
