Alloa

Episode 1 of 2

Ian Hamilton and his guide dog Major visit Alloa, a town famous for brewing and glassmaking. Ian takes on a judo champion and tries the beer at the town’s last remaining brewery.

Ian Hamilton and his guide dog Major visit the town of Alloa in Clackmannanshire. Nestled beneath the Ochil Hills and famous for brewing and glassmaking, Alloa sits on the River Forth, which in the past made the town vital for connecting Glasgow to mainland Europe for trade.

Alloa is clinging on to its traditional industries, with one brewer and one glassmaker left in the town. However, Ian finds plenty of interest in this busy community as he takes on a judo champion, visits a successful business on the high street, and hears about some dramatic paranormal events in the area. Ian and the crew also get the opportunity to try some delicious handmade tablet, and Ian grabs the chance to take part in a tasting at Alloa’s last remaining brewery.
