The Seagull, The Royal National Mod

Chekhov's tragicomedy The Seagull is about to open at the Royal Lyceum theatre in Edinburgh. Len speaks to two stars of stage and screen from the cast, Forbes Masson and John Bett.

A new production of Chekhov’s tragicomedy The Seagull kicks off at the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh this Thursday, directed by their brand new artistic director, James Brining. Exploring egos, failed relationships and careers, and the cost of dreams, this production stars Caroline Quentin in the main role of the fading actress and dominant drama queen Irina Arkadina. Len speaks to two Scottish actors performing alongside her, both well-known from stage and screen, Forbes Masson and John Bett.

The world’s largest Gaelic event, the Royal National Mòd, will be on in Lochaber from this Friday until 18 October. Ahead of that, a new local Mod has been announced in Moray from next year, joining the growing network of 22 regional Mods around Scotland which play their part in helping to develop Gaelic language, history and heritage at both local and national levels. James Graham, CEO of the Royal National Mod, and Carolyn Groat, convenor of the Local Organising Committee in Lochaber, tell Len more.
