Episode 1

Tracker Neil and his team are closing in on a Land Rover linked to a spate of street robberies in Manchester. With the car in their sights, they call for police back-up.

Criminals often use hire cars whilst carrying out their illegal activities. By constantly switching vehicles, they make it harder for the police to trace crimes back to them.

A Land Rover hired out by a rental company has been linked to a spate of street robberies in Manchester. The car is now 200 miles away in central London, but it’s fitted with a tracker, so Neil and his team are following its every move. As they close in on the suspect vehicle, they call for police back-up and prepare to swoop.

In the UK, over 300 vehicles are stolen every day, and many of them are shipped overseas, where they are sold to unscrupulous buyers. But the authorities are fighting back against organised gangs of car thieves smuggling stolen vehicles out of the country through ports such as Felixstowe. In just a few hours, stolen vehicle examiner Adam discovers six stolen cars, worth around £200,000, hidden inside shipping containers and about to be exported.

Cars aren’t the only vehicles to be targeted by criminals. In Nottingham, thieves have made off with a three-ton digger. But it’s fitted with a tracking device, so Richard hits the road determined to find it and get it back off the thieves.
