Anne is at home on the Isle of Lewis, where she retraces her crofting roots and discovers how this unique system of land ownership developed. Meanwhile, Dougie is in north Sutherland to visit the Melness Crofting Estate as the community marks 30 years since taking ownership of their land.
Elsewhere, Anne is in Harris to lend a hand on shearing day with a teenage crofter of the future. She then travels to North Uist to find out how a crofter is rearing cattle on the unique machair habitat. And Arlene is in Lewis to find out how a couple from County Durham found a croft to call their own.
