It’s 1972. Paul de Vries comes from one of Ceylon's oldest colonial families.

Though born there, he was brought up in England where he now works in an architect's office.

Ceylon has recently become Sri Lanka and when Paul receives letters from his father who has supposedly been 'dead' for two years, he must return to the land of his birth...
