Episode 2
With London band The Last Dinner Party, indie legends The Charlatans, powerhouse vocalist Celeste, LA singer-songwriter Tyler Ballgame and rapper Princess Nokia.
Jools welcomes London band The Last Dinner Party, who return to perform a couple of tracks from their second album From the Pyre, the follow-up to their hugely successful, Mercury-shortlisted number one album Prelude to Ecstasy. Jools also chats to frontwoman Abigail Morris and guitarist Emily Roberts about the record and their contribution to the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A.
Indie legends The Charlatans return almost 30 years since their debut in 1995 with a couple of songs from their 14th album, We Are Love, recorded between the storied Welsh farm studio Rockfield and their own Big Mushroom space in Middlewich, Cheshire. They also play one of their late 90s classics.
Jools also welcomes London torch singer and jazz vocalist Celeste, who gives an exclusive performance from her second album Woman of Faces, a record that describes 'the different weathers' inside her head. Jools and Celeste also chat about their love of Sam Cooke and perform one of his songs together at the piano.
From Los Angeles via Rhode Island, making his debut on the show is singer-songwriter Tyler Ballgame, who draws his sound from the classic singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s, and performs his breakout single Got a New Car.
Completing the musical line-up is Puerto Rican-born, New York-based rapper and musician Princess Nokia, who performs a medley of two tracks taken from her album GIRLS.
