Slow Sunday: Margaretha Van Dam & Catherine Clarke – Curds, Culture & Verse
Cerys dials down the tempo for Slow Sunday with a soothing mix and welcomes cheesemaker Margaretha Van Dam and historian-poet Catherine Clarke for music and reflection.
Cerys Matthews dials down the tempo for 6 Music’s Slow Sunday, with a soothing and eclectic mix of music to restore and reflect.
She’s joined by Dutch master cheesemaker Margaretha Van Dam, who shares the slow, sensory rhythms of artisanal cheese-making at The Newt in Somerset - from stirring the vat to flipping curds - and brings the sounds of her craft to the show.
Historian and writer Catherine Clarke also joins to discuss her new book A History of England in 25 Poems, offering a lyrical journey through England’s past. Cerys reads selected poems from the book, pairing them with slow-themed tracks to explore how poetry and music can help us pause, connect, and feel.
