Schumann's Piano Quintet
Martin Handley presents the Chiaroscuro Quartet at Wigmore Hall playing two of Haydn's Opus 20 string quartets and, with Cédric Tiberghien, Schumann's Piano Quintet, Op.44.
The Chiaroscuro Quartet, which plays on gut strings and with period bows, play two contrasting string quartets from Haydn's Opus 20: No.4 in D major is sunny and playful, while No.5 in F minor is melancholic. In the second part of their programme, they are joined by the French pianist Cédric Tiberghien to perform Robert Schumann's effervescent Piano Quintet.
Presented by Martin Handley and recorded on 13th October at Wigmore Hall in London.
