Elizabeth Alker welcomes a live audience to The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge for performances from three of Unclassified’s favourite artists.
The Trades Club in the West Yorkshire town of Hebden Bridge is not only Elizabeth Alker’s local, it’s also one of the most lively and well-loved music venues in the north of England. In this very special episode of Unclassified, Elizabeth welcomes three of the show’s favourite performers to play in front of a packed, enthusiastic crowd. Carmel Smickersgill trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and is now one of the most exciting and playful artists around, with a scintillating live set full of floating vocals and arpeggios cranked out in what she describes as her ‘electronic DIY’ style. LINDT is the latest project from Nigerian-born artist Iyunoluwa Yemi-Shodimu, who under a range of different guises has become a fixture of the experimental, multi-disciplinary scene in the North West. Yorkshire Modular Society, meanwhile, is the fabulously eclectic ambient project of Bradford-based Dominick Schofield, who draws on key musical influences like Aphex Twin as well as TV, films and video games for his inspiration.
