The Trades Club in the West Yorkshire town of Hebden Bridge is not only Elizabeth Alker鈥檚 local, it鈥檚 also one of the most lively and well-loved music venues in the north of England. In this very special episode of Unclassified, Elizabeth welcomes three of the show鈥檚 favourite performers to play in front of a packed, enthusiastic crowd. Carmel Smickersgill trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and is now one of the most exciting and playful artists around, with a scintillating live set full of floating vocals and arpeggios cranked out in what she describes as her 鈥榚lectronic DIY鈥� style. LINDT is the latest project from Nigerian-born artist Iyunoluwa Yemi-Shodimu, who under a range of different guises has become a fixture of the experimental, multi-disciplinary scene in the North West. Yorkshire Modular Society, meanwhile, is the fabulously eclectic ambient project of Bradford-based Dominick Schofield, who draws on key musical influences like Aphex Twin as well as TV, films and video games for his inspiration.
