Oswestry 25
Fashion fan Caroline is in her element when she visits an archive of antique fabrics and wallpapers going back 300 years. In Shropshire, friendships are tested at the fair.
In Manchester, Caroline Hawley visits an Aladdin’s cave of fabric swatches dating back to the late 1700s. The Print Pattern Archive Studio has more than 50,000 pieces of material and wallpaper spanning entire eras in fashion and design. Caroline meets the archive’s owner Cheryl O’Meara, who was gifted this incredible collection by New York textile curator Marlene Goldstein.
Over in Oswestry, two teams of best friends try to fashion a profit. Each pair have £300 in their pockets. On the red team are Amie and Katie, who have an eye for anything bold and quirky - but definitely not scary! Their opponents are Miles and Peter, who met in the sixth form 15 years ago. With Colin Young by their side, the lads are drawn to a stall of coloured glass, but their expert is not convinced that it will shine at auction. Over with the reds, expert Lesley Kiddell-Spencer steps in when her keen eye spots damage to the enamel of an attractive blue brooch.
In the saleroom, friendships are tested when the lots go under Tom Blackmore’s gavel. While one team is over the moon with their bonus buy, is the other barking mad to sell theirs?
