Three hours of classical sparkle
Sarah Walker with three hours of classical music to reflect, restore and refresh whether you’ve got a busy day of chores ahead, or having a few hours of rest.
Today Sarah heads to Venice for her Choral Reflection with music by Clara Schumann, and she enjoys brightly scurrying strings: from a symphonic movement by Alice Mary Smith, to Bach’s much loved third Brandenburg Concerto and the whirling scherzo from Mendelssohn’s String Octet.
There’s also some dramatic orchestral tension in the overture from Berlioz’s never-finished opera The Free Judges, and a beautifully vocal oboe duet.
Plus, Haydn conjures up the tick tock of the clock…
