Australian conductor and passionate Janáček advocate Charles Mackerras would have turned 100 years old on Monday, and ѿý Radio 3 is marking the occasion with a day celebrating his music-making, his passion and his wit.

Tonight, we hear one of his most beloved recordings, that of Janáček's opera The Cunning Little Vixen. Based on a series newspaper drawings of the adventures of a fox cub, it has delighted audiences ever since its premiere in 1924.
