Ahead of Monday's celebration of the conductor's centenary, Jan谩膷ek's opera is conducted by Charles Mackerras.

Australian conductor and passionate Jan谩膷ek advocate Charles Mackerras would have turned 100 years old on Monday, and 蜜芽传媒 Radio 3 is marking the occasion with a day celebrating his music-making, his passion and his wit.

Tonight, we hear one of his most beloved recordings, that of Jan谩膷ek's opera The Cunning Little Vixen. Based on a series newspaper drawings of the adventures of a fox cub, it has delighted audiences ever since its premiere in 1924.
