Mark Forrest showcases the best performances by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic Orchestra is our ensemble in focus this week, and today’s programme opens with a recent performance of Edvard Grieg’s first Peer Gynt Suite given in Hull’s City Hall. There’s also symphonic music from a Korean orchestra in Poland: the KBS Symphony Orchestra perform Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 in Warsaw.
Throughout the week we’re hearing from music written by Robert Schumann in 1842, his ‘year of chamber music’. Today, the Mondrian Ensemble perform his Fantasiestücke for piano trio at a concert recorded in Zurich.
Plus we’re back at the 2025 Glenarm Festival of Voice in County Antrim, where baritone and current Radio 3 New Generation Artist gave a recital that included Claude Debussy’s Le Promenoir des deux amants.
