Episode 6

With The Divine Comedy, blues musician Robert Finley, rising powerhouse vocalist Sienna Spiro, DJ and producer HAAi, and new R&B star Odeal. Plus chats with Rick Astley and Beth Ditto.

Jools welcomes Northern Irish group The Divine Comedy, who return with their first new music in five years and perform a couple of songs from their top five album Rainy Sunday Afternoon, described as a ‘tonic for these turbulent times’, as well as a special performance of their 1999 top ten hit National Express.

Making his debut on the show from Louisiana is one of today’s pre-eminent spokesmen of the blues, Robert Finley, who spent decades playing music as a street performer. He plays two tracks from his album Hallelujah! Don’t Let The Devil Fool Ya, produced by his long-time collaborator Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.

Also making their debut are three artists of contrasting music styles. The first is London rising powerhouse vocalist Sienna Spiro, who performs her single Die on This Hill, having just been on tour in America with Sam Smith.

The second debutante is Australian electronic music producer and DJ HAAi, who is joined by south London artist KAM-BU to perform her track Shapeshift, taken from her album HUMANiSE, a record that 'reckons with what it is to be human in an increasingly digital world'.

The final debut comes from British-Nigerian R&B artist Odeal, who performs London Summers from his EP The Summer That Saved Me, which has racked up millions of streams globally.

Completing the line-up are two artists who join Jools to chat and sing at the piano: the legendary Rick Astley, who is about to embark on a UK arena tour and who performs a favourite Dean Martin song of his, and from Arkansas, Beth Ditto, who chats about her 6 Music radio show and performs a honky-tonk classic with Jools at the piano.
