Dick Van Dyke: The Ultimate Song and Dance Man

West End leading man Charlie Stemp celebrates the legendary star of ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, Dick Van Dyke, as he turns 100 years old.

Having played the role of Bert the chimney sweep in Cameron Mackintosh's 'Mary Poppins' on the West End stage, triple threat Charlie Stemp has loved, admired and been inspired by Dick Van Dyke his whole life - and in this show he celebrates the legendary star of ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ as he turns 100 years old.

We'll be hearing from Gregg Sherman, whose father and uncle, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, wrote the music and lyrics for both ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, Vince Waldron, author of 'The Official Dick Van Dyke Show Book,' and Karen Dotrice, who at the age of nine played Jane Banks in 'Mary Poppins' - and had to keep a straight face as Dick messed about on set to make her laugh.

There's also a whole raft of contributions from Dick Van Dyke super fans, including Sir Tim Rice, etiquette expert William Hanson who has seen Mary Poppins on stage 44 times, and film critic Angie Errigo who, like so many people across the world, has worshipped Dick Van Dyke since childhood.

Along with lots of brilliant music from ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ archive material of Dick Van Dyke himself, this is the ultimate celebration of 'Dick Van Dyke: The Ultimate Song and Dance Man'.
