Chinese families sacrifice almost everything to make sure their children can get a university education, but does this education set them up for positions in an already over-saturated job market? The film will follow a handful of young people who are, at this critical point in their lives, telling their own and their family's stories. Weijun Chen has made many successful films including the award-winning Please Vote for Me. Now he wants to look at the new generation of educated Chinese. This will be a film about young people in the most competitive economy in the world. This observational film takes us beyond the generalisations that characterise much of what is said and written about China while giving an intimate and on the ground look at how tough it is to breakthrough to a higher level of society.
