Why do so many French workers see conflict as the answer to economic problems?
Last week hundreds of thousands of French people took to the streets for traditional May day protests. France is not alone in feeling the effects of the credit crunch - but public reaction often seems more aggressive than elsewhere, with some workers even kidnapping their bosses in protest at factory closures and job losses. Why do French workers seem to have such an appetite for conflict.
