
Swarming locusts
At 65km wide and 160km long, this is one of the greatest of all desert spectacles and is rarely seen on this scale. Shot in traditional Super-16, a straightscope offered a close-up, wide angle perspective as the locusts passed by. It was a tall order as the crew had to mobilise at extremely short notice to reach the swarm before it dispersed.
